Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road at Sacred Heart on Sunday
Blue Devils are back in action on April 12 at Bryant
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in Northeast Conference play with a 15-9 loss on the road at Sacred Heart on Sunday. The Blue Devils return to action on April 12 at 7 p.m. on the road at Bryant.
Central held a 5-2 lead after five different players scored in the first 14 minutes of action. Junior Alaigra Usher, Morgan Sinton and Molly Coogan, sophomore Kaitlyn Rapp and freshman Lily Sheridan each scored for Central as they built the three-goal lead.
Sacred Heart answered, however, with three straight goals to tie the game at five. Usher scored again before the half and the score was tied 6-6 at the break.
The Pioneers scored three straight to open the half and build a 9-6 lead. After senior Carson Adelberger cut the lead to 9-7, SHU answered with six straight goals and held Central scoreless over the next 22 minutes to build the lead.
Usher and Coogan each scored twice for the Blue Devils in the loss. Senior Jackie Branthover made 12 saves for CCSU.
The Blue Devils return to action on April 12 on the road at Bryant.
