Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 16-4 Home Win Over Presbyterian
Adelberger leads the attack with five goals in the win
Senior Carson Adelberger scored a season-high five goals as the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team cruised to a 16-4 home victory over Presbyterian on Thursday. Nine different Blue Devils scored in the game as the squad moved to 2-4 overall on the season. The 16 goals are a season-high for CCSU.
Central will return to action on March 20 on the road at Monmouth beginning at 1 p.m.
Central led 9-4 at halftime and didn't allow a goal in the second half as they posted their second win of the season. It was their first home win of 2019. The Blue Devil defense allowed just one second half shot. Senior Jackie Branthover made three saves in the game to preserve the victory.
The Blue Devils outshot the Blue Hose 35-8 in the game, forcing a pair of Presbyterian goalkeepers to make 11 saves.
Adelberger led the offense with five goals in the game. Freshman Jessica Denike, and sophomores Emma Sullivan and Carrisa Brown each scored twice. Brown added a pair of assists, while junior Morgan Sinton had a goal and an assist in the game. Sophomore Kaitlyn Rapp also added a goal and an assist.
It was all CCSU after the 10:25 mark of the first half. After a Blue Hose goal made it 5-3, the Blue Devils outscored the visitors 11-1 over the final 40 minutes of the game, including 7-0 in the second half.
