Women's Lacrosse Drops 11-6 Home Decision to UMass Lowell on Wednesday
Sinton and Usher each score twice for CCSU in the loss
Sophomore Alaigra Usher and sophomore Morgan Sinton each scored a pair of goals but the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-6 home decision to UMass Lowell on Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 1-8 on the season. The Riverhawks improve to 3-6 overall on the season with the victory.
Junior Jackie Branthover made seven saves in goal for the Blue Devils in the loss.
Central scored first in the first half as Sinton scored her 14th goal of the season just 2:04 into the game. The Riverhawks, however, would answer with seven straight goals before halftime, while holding the Blue Devils scoreless, to take a 7-1 lead at the break.
The lead extended to 8-1 before Usher scored to make it 8-2. Central cut the lead to 9-4 on junior Carson Adelberger's seventh goal of the season and the second of the game for Sinton.
With the UMass Lowell lead at 11-5, freshman Carrisa Brown scored her third goal of the season, as the clock expired for the 11-6 final score.
The Riverhawks held a 23-18 advantage in shots in the game, and a 19-15 edge in ground balls. UMass Lowell goalkeeper Renee Gonzalez made eight saves in goal for the victory. They were led offensively by Cameron McKelvin who had four goals and Kendyl Finelli who added two goals and four assists.
The Blue Devils return to action again on Apr. 6 at home vs. Bryant as they begin Northeast Conference play.
