Anaya Hunte Named NEC Rookie of the Week
The freshman dealt dealt five scoreless innings, picking up a win and a save over the week.
Pitcher Anaya Hunte was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Over the week, the freshman dealt five innings, striking out sevens batters and earning both a win and a save.
Hunte came into relief on Tuesday in the fifth inning against Sacred Heart with the Blue Devils trailing 3-1. She shut down the Pioneers, retiring six of seven batters including four strikeouts. Central came back to take the lead in the sixth inning and Hunte earned the win. The New Jersey native once again came into relief the following day, dealing three innings without allowing a hit. Hunte struck out three more batters and earned her third career save in the 1-0 victory.
Hunte was joined with Kaitlin Paterson as a NEC Prime Performer.
The Blue Devils travel to Long Island for a four-game series with LIU on Friday and Saturday.
