Blue Devils Drop Two Games Against UAlbany
Central starts the 2021 season with two losses at home.
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped both games to Albany on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were outscored a combined 17-6 in the two games played. Central begins the 2021 seaosn at 0-2, as Albany moves to 2-0.
GAME ONE
Score: Central Connecticut 1, Albany 9 (5 inn.)

Central went down 1-2-3 for the first two innings of the 2021 campaign. Meg Dugas was the first Blue Devil to reach base safely after earning a walk in the third inning.

CCSU trailed 3-0 in the fourth, when Albany tacked on three more runs with a three-run home run.

The Blue Devils did not record a hit until the bottom of the fifth, when Meg Dugas hit a single to right field.

Central had the bases loaded with two outs for Paige Stringer. However, Stringer was caught looking to end the game in five innings. Central left five runners on base for the game and recorded just one hit.
GAME TWO

CCSU fell behind early after a first inning solo home run from Albany.

Kim Howard drilled a two-out double to left center in the second inning. The next two batters walked for CCSU, leaving the bases loaded. However, Molly Brunys struck out and Central left three on base.

Albany would tack on two runs in the third inning, expanding its lead to 3-0. The Blue Devils were able to respond in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs. Kaitlin Paterson and Kim Howard each recorded a RBI in the inning.

Down 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Meg Dugas hit a much needed home run to left field, the first of her career.

Central would give up two more runs in the top half of the seventh, falling behind 8-3. Kim Howard hit a grounder up the middle with the bases loaded, when Albany committed two errors on the play. The errors allowed two runs for CCSU, putting the team down just two runs. The next two Blue Devils struck out looking to end the double-header.
UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will host Mount St. Mary's for the first Northeast Conference games of the season. The games will take place on Saturday, March 20 & Sunday, March 21. Both days will be a double-header with game one at 1:00 pm and game two at 3:00 pm.
