Softball Opens Season with Win Over Rider
CCSU plays Bowling Green and Tennessee State on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut softball team won its opener at the Tenn State Tiger Classic, defeating Rider 4-1 on Friday. The Blue Devils scored four runs in the secon inning to get all the offense they needed for the win.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central's first five batters in the second all reached safely. Junior Meg Dugas opened the scoring with a single, followed by a two-run double by senior Sarah Ogilvie. The Blue Devils' lead went to 4-0 after senior Giuliana Hathaway singled.
- Sophomore Kari Marks got the win, scattering six hits and allowing one run in 7.0 innings of work. She struck out eight.
- Dugas and senior Kaitlin Paterson each had two hits for CCSU, which collected seven hits as a team.
- The Blue Devils' game against Bowling Green scheduled for earlier Friday was postponed due to weather in Nashville.
