Softball Opens 2020 Campaign at Tenn State Tiger Classic
Central will face Bowling Green on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
The Central Connecticut softball team will start the 2020 regular season on Friday, Feb. 21 in Nashville, Tenn. for the Tenn State Tiger Classic. The Blue Devils play a pair of games on Friday and Saturday and close the tournament with one game on Sunday.
On Friday, CCSU will face Bowling Green and Rider at 12:30 and 3 p.m. The Blue Devils then face Bowling Green again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and close the day against the tournament host Tennessee State at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Central closes the tournament with a game against Creighton at 10 a.m.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Bowling Green enters the tournament 2-3 on the year after playing in the Chattanooga Challenge. The team won its season opener 3-1 against Tennessee Tech then lost back-to-back games before earning its second victory 7-5 over Chattanooga.
The tournament host Tenn State is 2-7 after playing in the UNA Softball Invitational and the Bulldog Kickoff Classic. The team dropped its first two games before defeating Alcorn State 4-1 then went on a three game skid before earning its second win over Tulsa 2-1.
Creighton is 5-4 and won its past two games. The team won three games in the H-E-B Classic, including a 24-1 win over Toledo, and went an even 2-2 in the North Texas Invitational.
Rider will open their season at the Tenn State Tiger Classic.
