Eigenmann Earns NEC Weekly Honor
Rian Eigenmann was named the NEC Player and Rookie of the Week.
Central Connecticut softball freshman Rian Eigenmann was announced as the Northeast Conference Player of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league's front office. The Millville, NJ native led the Blue Devils batting .563 with four multi-hit games, two home runs, nine RBIs, and six runs scored. Central has won three of its last four games including a sweep over Rider on Sunday.
During a double-header against Quinnipiac, the starting catcher went 6-for-7 including one double, one home run, and two RBIs earning a split against the Bobcats. Eigenmann reached base in all three of her at bats in game one and stole two bases in Central's 3-0 victory over Quinnipiac.
Over the weekend, Eigenmann played a pivotal role in CCSU's sweep against Rider. In game one, she went 3-of-4 with a double and a total of four RBIs. She crossed home plate three times leading the Blue Devils to win 12-11. In game two, she opened the game with a home run going 3-of-5 from the plate posting three RBIs and scoring twice.
Entering the bottom of the fifth trailing 7-5, Central scored four runs in the fifth inning and nine in the sixth, including a walk off grand slam by sophomore Sydney Bolan to end the game early 18-7. Bolan made the NEC Prime Performers List for the second week this season.
Central softball is back in action on Wednesday, March 27 for a double-header at Yale starting at 2 and 4 p.m.
