Diaz Earns His First Athlete of the Week Honor

After a seventh-place finish in last week's CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Park, junior Yankarlos Diaz collected his first NEC Athlete of the Week Honor.
Diaz led the Blue Devils to claim the collegiate title on their home turf and was the first CCSU runner to cross the finish line, placing seventh among 96 runners with a time of 15:02.
Three more Blue Devils finished in the top-16 and were named to this week's NEC Men's Cross Country Prime Performer list. James Sullivan (15:03) and Jake Ireland (15:09) followed closely behind Diaz taking eighth and nineth place, respectively. Tim Lautenbach secured 16th place with a time of 15:16.
The men's cross country team will be back in action on Friday, October 28th at the NEC Championships in Loretto, PA. The Blue Devils will be looking to win their second NEC title in a row.
