Men's Cross Country Grabs Six All-NEC Selections, Two All-Rookie
Men's Cross country carved out six spots on the 2021 All-Northeast Conference team Thursday, the most out of any of the schools. The Blue Devils also had two freshman named to the All-Rookie team.
The All-Conference teams are made up of the first 14 runners to cross the finish line at the NEC Championship, which CCSU handidly won with three finishers in the top five. The Blue Devils finished with a final score of 28.
The All-NEC team is comprised of Eddie Nicholas (first place - 25:41.10), Colin Caso (fourth place - 26:01.10), Yankarlos Diaz (fifth place - 26:01.60), James Sullivan (seventh place - 26:10.80), Greg McGuire (eleventh place - 26:34.90) and Jacob Ireland (twelth place - 26:39.10).
Because of their top 14 finishes, Caso and Sullivan were also named to the All-Rookie team, which is made up of the first seven freshman to cross the finish line at the NEC Championship.
The men's side won three total races this year (Marist Invitational, Ted Owen Invitational and NEC Championship) and finished second in the CCSU Mini Meet and fourth at the New England Championships.
CCSU has had three Athlete of the Week honors this season (Nicholas 2x, Caso) and four Rookie of the Week selections (Caso 2x, Sullivan 2x).
