Men's and Women's Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA 2019 All-Academic Team Award
Both teams had a cumulative GPA over a 3.0.
After displaying excellence in the classroom and on the competition field, the student-athletes of the Central Connecticut men's and women's cross country teams were acknowledged by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday, January 30.
Both teams were named to the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic lists for achieving a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
Overall, there were 428 teams that earned All-Academic recognition. The women's cross country team earned a combined GPA of 3.47 and the men's team combined for 3.24.
The men were one of five Northeast Conference teams to receive the national recognition. On the men's side the Blue Devils joined Fairleigh Dickinson (3.20), Mount St. Mary's (3.21), Sacred Heart (3.26) and Saint Francis University (3.43). CCSU women joined Fairleigh Dickinson (3.08), Mount St. Mary's (3.39), Robert Morris (3.52), Sacred Heart (3.61) and Saint Francis University (3.63) on the list.
The Blue Devils compete this weekend at the New England Championships in Boston, MA.
