Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at the CCSU Mini-Meet
Tyler Raymond places third in the individual standings.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team placed second in its 14th annual CCSU Mini-Meet on Friday afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. CCSU placed second in the field of 16 teams running the 5K course. Senior Tyler Raymond led the Blue Devils in the varsity race, placing third out of 117 runners, with a time of 15:02.52.
Crossing the finish line close behind Raymond was sophomore Austin Trainor, finishing fourth with a time of 15:11.6.
The next pack of Central runners to complete the course were senior Joseph Gioielli (15:25.7), sophomore Alex Norstrom (15:34.2), and senior Derek French (15:38.1). The men placed 13th, 22nd, and 24th, respectively.
Rounding out the team's runners were junior Brendan Callahan and senior Malcolm Connor. The two runners finished with respective times of 15:41.3 (31st place), and 15:55.8 (47th place).
Highlighted in the preceeding sub-varsity race, was freshman Robert Piotto who took second place honors, clocking in at 15:30.97. Junior Eric Davidson ran a 16:21.22 to earn 14th place in the overall standings out of 58 total competitors.
The CCSU runners will take their momentum to St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, for the 2016 Northeast Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29th. The Blue Devils will look to defend their NEC title in the race scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time.
