Men's Track and Field Shines at Wilton Wright Invite
Central Connecticut men's track and field put together a strong showing at the Wilton Wright Invitational Saturday, taking home nine first place finishes and setting a CCSU record in the 4x100 relay race.
RESULTS
TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES
- Miles Fye-Moore got the Blue Devils first gold of the day in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 21.71. In fact, the Blue Devils had a whole crew atop the leaderboard in this event, as Jovan Dixon, Tyler Loth and Hank Jean-Jacques finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
- Jason Walton took home a first place finish in the 400 meter dash with a 50.27 finish time.
- In the 400 meter hurdles, Shawn Akomeah and Carlos Villiarini finished first and second, respectively.
- Jake Ireland took home the gold in the 800 meter race, clocking in at 1:55.69.
- Ireland took home his second gold of the afternoon in the 1500, finishing in 3:59.36. Eddie Nicholas was right behind him to finish second.
- The men's relay team cruised to a win in the 4x100 race with a 40.90 finish, which is a CCSU record. The team consisted of Fye-Moore, Dixon, Ali Diaby and Cam Whalen
TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
- Andrew McCarthy won the discus throw with a 48.73 meter toss.
- In the javelin throw, Logan Ratcliff secured another gold for CCSU with a 54.53 meter throw.
- Leon Green won the final gold of the day for the Blue Devils in the shot put with a 14.71 meter toss.
