Jacob Ireland Speeds to Victory at TCNJ Invite
Central Connecticut Track and Field had a successful day in the Big Apple at the TCNJ Invite Saturday. Jacob Ireland grabbed a first place finish for the team, while the Blue Devils had a number of top five finishers in other events.
Ireland won the team's lone gold of the day, finishing first in the men's 800 meter run with a 1:55.32 time.
In the men's 3000 meter relay, Yankarlos Diaz and James Sullivan finished third and fifth, respectively. Diaz' finish was only .3 seconds behind second place.
Freshman Isreal Henriques-Setho placed fifth in the triple jump with a 13.35 meter jump and grabbed a sixth place score in the long jump with a 6.62 meter jump.
In the 60 meter hurdles event, Lorenzo Garcia and Cam Whalen put together third and fourth place finishes, respectively.
Elias Field was back on the track Saturday and churned out a fourth place finish in the men's mile run.
Jason Walton finished sixth in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:09.85.
Andrew McCarthy placed second in the final event of the day, the men's weight throw, with a toss of 16.75 meters.
The Blue Devils compete again on Saturday at the Ramapo Opener in New York.
