Men's Track & Field Seeks Third NEC Indoor Title
The NEC Championship will take place on Staten Island, NY.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team will compete for the 2020 Northeast Conference title on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22 inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY. The men's championship track events begin on Friday with the 60 meter hurdles preliminary round at 9:00 a.m and will conclude for day one at 1:40 p.m. after the 3,000 meter run finals.

Last year, CCSU earned nine medals totaling 98 points to finish fourth at the 2019 NEC Championship meet. LIU was crowned the champion with 127 points.
Kevorni Welsh was named the long jump champion earning the gold medal after a personal best 7.11 meter jump. He was the runner-up in the high jump recording a leap of 1.98 meters, another personal best for Welsh. Welsh also had a personal best in the triple jump at 14.32 meters finishing in sixth place.
Roberto Piotto brought home two medals of his own. He was named the 5,0000-meter run champion clocking in at 14:5.99 and earned a bronze medal in the 3,000-meter dash finishing the event in 8:34.67.
Richard Grudzwick won the bronze medal in the 800-meter after crossing the finish line in 1:56.26. Grudzwick also set a personal best time of 4:17.65 in the one-mile finishing in sixth place.
Following the championship, Central competes at the BU Last Chance Qualifier on Friday, February 28 in Boston, MA.
