Blue Devils Open Indoor Season at Wagner Invite
Track and field competes at the Wagner College Invite Friday, Jan. 3.
The Central Connecticut men's and women's track and field team will begin the 2019-20 indoor season on Friday, Jan. 3 inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY for the Wagner College Invitational.
The men's indoor track team is coming off a fourth place finish at the 2019 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. The team earned nine medals and totaled 98 points. Returning senior Marquis Ward was named the 2019 Most Outstanding Performer for jumps after earning three medals, including the gold in the high jump. The team had three individual champions: Ward, Roberto Piotto and Kevorni Welsh, who were all named to the All-NEC First Team last season.
The women's indoor track and field team finished in fifth place at the 2019 NEC Championship meet. The team totaled 63 points and earned six medals. Former graduate Dawn Hubbell was named to the All-NEC First Team after being crowned the 2019 NEC Champion in the women's 5,000 meter run. Returning members, Megan Brawner and Hailey Rospierski were honored to the All-NEC Second Team.
