Piotto Crowned 5,000 Meter Champion to lead Central at the New England Champions
Robert Piotto ran the 5,000 meter in 14:41.50
Junior Roberto Piotto was crowned the 2018 New England champion in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:41.50 at the New England Championships in Boston, MA.
Junior Richard Grudzwick earned the bronze medal in the 800-meter dash completing the event in an impressive 1:53.19.
The men's 4x400 relay team consisting of Grudzwick, Miles Fye-Moore, Jack St. Clair, and Garrett Dandridge finished in 3:31.13.
Junior Jarred Creech set a mark of 13.54 meters in the triple jump for a 14th place finish.
In the long jump finals, juniors Kevorni Welsh and Marquis Ward recorded heights of 6.53 and 6.40 meters respectively.
Fye-Moore ran the 60-meter dash in 7.15 in the semifinals and junior Quincy Sanchez completed the 60-meter hurdles in 8.30 in the semis but neither advanced.
Julio Arredondo ran 2:32.30 in the 1,000 meter run preliminaries but did not advance to the finals.
The men's 4x800 team including Arredondo, Tim McNamara, Andrew Findley, and Andruw Flemming recorded a time of 7:59.46.
