Men's Track Sets Five Personal Records at BU Last Chance Meet on Sunday
CCSU will next compete at the IC4A Championships on March 2-4.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team set five new personal records on Sunday, February 25 at the BU Last Chance Meet in Boston, MA.
Freshman Jonathan Gill broke his previous best 800-meter run time of 1:52.64 set last weekend at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships with a new top mark of 1:52.14 to place 12th on Sunday out of 60 runners.
Senior Austin Trainor edged out his old personal best mile time of 4:05.72 with a new collegiate best time of 4:05.25 to take third in his heat.
In the high jump, freshman Amaziah Gadson cleared 1.91 meters for CCSU and senior Mike Lang placed third overall with a solid jump of 6.95 meters in the long jump. Sophomore Kevorni Welsh placed sixth while setting a new personal best time of 6.65 meters, crushing his old top mark of 6.48 meters.
Welsh also shattered his personal record in the triple jump, 13.93 meters, with a fifth-place leap of 14.31 meters. Sophomore Marquis Ward placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 14.13 meters.
Following Gill, junior Adonys Langual ran a personal best 800-meter time of 1:54.92.
Central Connecticut will next take its eight qualifiers back to Boston on March 2-4 for the IC4A Championships at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
