Borecki, Latham Finish Fourth and Fifth at UConn MultiEvent Challenge
Borecki edges Latham with strong showing in pole vault
Seniors Sam Borecki and Tyler Latham finished fourth and fifth respectively in the UConn MultiEvent Challenge in the Heptathlon on Friday. Borecki posted a strong showing in the final three events on Friday to move ahead of Latham and finish fourth. Borecki ended the event with 4,733 points. Latham was just behind with 4,726.
The two Blue Devils posted strong showings in the first indoor event of the season, finishing in the top five of the 19-member field.
Borecki surged in the standings with a solid showing in the pole vault. He was second in the entire field with a height of 4.60 meters. He also ran 9.20 in the 60 meter hurdles and then finished with a time of 2:52.29 in the 1,000 meter run.
Latham also had a solid second day, running 8.41 in the 60 meter hurdles, the second best time in the entire field. He posted a height of 3.30 meters in the pole vault and ran 2:51.92 in the 1.,000 meter run, the third-fastest time in the field.
