Trainor, Gill Set Personal Records at Larry Ellis on Friday
Freshman Jonathan Gill and Junior Austin Trainor set new personal records at Princeton on Friday.
Two Central Connecticut men's track and field members, rookie Jonathan Gill and junior Austin Trainor, set new personal records at the Larry Ellis Invitational held at Princeton on Friday, April 21. Gill competed in the 800 meter run and ran a 1:52.00 time beating his old top mark of 1:54.11 set at the 2017 Rider Invite.
Trainor earned bronze in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a new collegiate best time of 8:58.04. The junior bested his previous personal record of 9:01.85 set at the 2016 IC4A Championships.
Senior Joseph Gioielli had a solid performance in the 1,500 meter run placing 18th overall with a time of 3:50.39. Freshman Nana Kissi started off the day with a 52.15m throw in the javelin to take eighth place. Junior Tyler Latham followed the rookie with a 10th place throw of 51.72m to round out the Blue Devil performances on day one.
CCSU will pick back up tomorrow, Saturday, April 22 for the second day of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Field and track events will begin at 11:00 a.m.
