Connor, Alston Advance to Finals at IC4A Championships; MTF Competes Across Northeast
The CCSU men's outdoor track and field team will return to action on Sunday as a few members of the team wrap up the final day of the IC4A Championships in Princeton.
The Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team was split between the IC4A Championships, NEICAAA Championships and the Battle Road Twilight Meet on Saturday. Select Blue Devils posted qualifying times in their respective events over the course of the regular season to be eligible to race this weekend at each meet. The IC4A Championships are being hosted by Princeton University in Princeton, NJ from Friday to Sunday, the NEICAAA Championships are being held at Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT on Friday and Saturday and the Battle Road Twilight Meet was at Bentley College in Waltham, MA on Saturday.

BATTLE ROAD RESULTS
Senior Kendall Walker qualified and competed in a pair of events for the Blue Devils at the IC4A Championships at Princeton on Saturday. The veteran ran in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash finishing 24th and 32nd, respectively. He sprinted to a time of 10.98 in the 100 meter and 22.55 in the 200 meter.
Senior Malcolm Connor turned in an excellent performance in the 800 meter run preliminaries at the IC4A Championships claiming sixth place out of 57 total runners. Setting a new collegiate-best time by running 1:51.76, Connor advances to the finals heat to be run on Sunday afternoon with the sixth fastest time.
In the 110 meter hurdles preliminaries, a trio of freshman competed for the Blue Devils at the IC4A Championships, including Edwin Alston who advanced on to the finals heat to be run on Sunday. In the prelims, Alston ran the sixth fastest time with a time of 14.38 to advance to the semi-finals where he ran the third fastest time at 14.36 to qualify for the finals. Quincy Sanchez and Tyrik Henry also competed in the prelims finishing 19th and 32nd with times of 14.90 and 15.50, respectively.
Meanwhile at the NEICAAA Championships in New Haven, junior Derek French recorded a season best time in the men's 1,500 meter run finishing in 4:07.32 to take 20th place.
At the Battle Road Twilight Meet at Bentley College, Joseph Gioielli contested in the 1,500 meter run. The junior clocked in a time of 3:48.67 to finish inside the top-10 and record a sixth place overall finish.
