Men's Soccer Falls 2-0 at Robert Morris
Blue Devils will play at SFU on Sunday
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped to 5-8-2 overall and 1-3-1 in Northeast Conference play with a 2-0 loss on the road at Robert Morris on Friday afternoon. The Colonials moved to 2-3-1 in league play and 7-8-2 overall with the win.
Central returns to action on Sunday at St. Francis U beginning at 1 p.m.
Robert Morris finally broke through with 20:35 left in the second half when Neco Brett, the nation's leading goal scorer, beat Blue Devil goalkeeper Josef Abele for his 15th goal of the season. Brett took a pass from teammate Corey McCurdy and beat Abele for the 1-0 lead.
The lead reached 2-0 on the second goal of the season for RMU's Carl Reid. Reid took a feed from Speedy Williams and Brett and shot it inside the left post for the score.
The Colonials held a 12-4 edge in shots on goal. Abele made a season-high 10 saves in goal in the loss. RMU also had a slim 5-3 egde in corner kicks. The Blue Devils best chance to score came with about two minutes remaining in the second half, but the RMU keeper made the stop and kept the Blue Devils scoreless.
The Blue Devils continue their weekend trip to Western Pennsylvania at St. Francis U on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
They will complete the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. hosting Bryant on the CCSU Soccer Field at 1 p.m. Prior to the game on Nov. 9 the Blue Devils will honor the member of their senior class.
