Ken Horton Named to Northeast Conference All-Decade Team
Horton is the Blue Devils' all-time leading scorer.
Central Connecticut men's basketball great was selected to the Northeast Conference All-Decade Team it was announced on Thursday. Horton, who is the all-time leading scorer at CCSU, played for the Blue Devils from 2007-12 and was a two-time First Team All-NEC selection. The league unveiled the list of 10 selections via Twitter.
A panel of NEC announcers, coaches and other individuals familiar with league's history was assembled to choose the All-Decade Team. The 10 selections were made from an initial list of 25 players who competed for at least two seasons in the league this decade. Panelists voted for their choices by ranking them from "1" to "10".
Horton was one of the league's top players during his time in New Britain from 2007-12. He was named the 2011 NEC Player of the Year after putting up 19.5 points per game, 8.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, while shooting 49.2% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point arc. A versatile forward, Horton twice earned All-NEC First Team honors.
Horton finished his career as CCSU's all-time leading scorer (1,966 points), while grabbing 842 rebounds with 197 blocked shots, 182 assists and 139 steals. In 116 career games, Horton put up career totals to rank among CCSU's all-team leaders in points (1st), field goals made (1st), blocks (3rd), free throws made (5th), steals (7th), points per game (8th) and rebounds (9th). He scored a career-high 39 points against Mount St. Mary's, which ranks 8th on the single-game list. His 63 blocked shots as a freshman in 2007-08 is the fourth-highest single season total, while his 50 blocks as a junior in 2010-11 ranks 9th.
