Men's Basketball Loses at Massachusetts, 89-43
Central returns home to host New Hampshire on Tuesday.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team fell to 0-4 with an 89-43 loss at Massachusetts on Saturday as part of Air Force Reserve Tip Off Tournament in Amherst, MA. The Blue Devils would hold their only lead of the day at 2-1, but the Minutemen would control the game from there.
Freshman Greg Outlaw led CCSU in scoring with 12 points and three steals with five rebounds. Junior Stephane Ayangma added five ponits and five rebounds off the bench. Freshman Trey Tennyson had eight points, while classmate Myles Baker had six points and four assists.
Central shot just 16-ofp48 (.333) from the field in the game, and was just 4-of-14 (.286) from three-point range. The Minutemen shot 32-of-61 (.525) from the field and went 10-of-22 (.455) from the arc. UMASS was 15-of-21 from the foul line while Central was just 7-of-12 and committed 24 turnovers.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU took its only lead of the day after a steal and layup by Greg Outlaw to make it 2-1 at the 17:34 mark. UMASS would respond by scoring eight straight points.
- The Minutemen took advantage of CCSU foul trouble and turnovers in the opening half. A Keon Clergot three-pointer made it 23-11 and UMass led by double-figures the rest of the half.
- Central committed 15 turnovers in the opening half that were turned into 15 points for UMass, while the Minutemen also went 11-of-16 at the foul line in the period.
- The Blue Devils had just one field goal in the opening 4:14 of the second half as the Minutemen outscored CCSU 9-1 to open the period.

7 - Central had seven steals in the game, its most since recording nine in the opener. Outlaw had a team-high three.
NOTES
- The teams were meeting for the first time since Dec. 30, 2011. The Minutemen have won the last two meetings and are 4-0 all-time against CCSU at the Mullins Center.
- Sophomore Karrington Wallace blocked two shots, his second multi-block game of the season.
- The Blue Devils used the same starting lineup as the previous game for the first time all season.
- CCSU was outrebounded 41-27 and committed 20+ turnovers for the third straight game.
- Central has been held to fewer than 50 points in back-to-back games for the first time since Jan. 12 and Jan. 14, 2017, in at LIU and Fairleigh Dickinson.
