Men's Basketball Downs Coast Guard in Exhibition Win, 104-64
Central opens the season against Hartford on Nov. 5 at Detrick Gymnasium.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team posted a 104-64 exhibition win over Coast Guard Academy on Monday night at Detrick Gymnasium. CCSU shot 57.5 percent from the field in the contest and had five players score in double-figures. The game was a tune-up for the Blue Devils season-opener against Hartford on Nov. 5.
Central finished with 27 assists on 42 field goals in the game and had 11 players record a field goal. Freshman Greg Outlaw had 17 points off the bench, while classmate Myles Baker finished with 16 points. Junior Stephane Ayangma narrowly missed out on a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The CCSU defense limited CGA to 37.5 percent shooting on the night and forced 19 turnovers.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU never trailed in the game and used a 12-0 run to go ahead 40-22 with under 8:00 remaining in the opening half. A three-pointer by Baker opened the spurt to make it 31-22. He would add two foul shots in the run, which ended with a three-pointer by freshman Trey Tennyson to make it an 18-point game with 4:06 left in the half.
- Central scored seven unanswered points to close the first half and began the second half with eight straight points to open up a 32-point margin. Senior Jamir Coleman had a three-pointer and layup sandwiched around a Baker trey to begin the second half.
- Sophomore Karrington Wallace gave CCSU its largest lead of the night (100-54) with a layup with 3:18 to play.

26 - Central accounted for 26 points off turnovers, compared to just 10 for Coast Guard.

- Coleman and Wallace scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the CCSU double-figure scorers.
- CCSU had 27 assists on 42 field goals. Baker, sophomore Zach Newkirk and freshman Jamir Reed each had four assists.
- Freshman Xavier Wilson finished with a team-high three blocked shots.
- Outlaw added three steals, three assists and three rebounds.
- Freshman Trey Tennyson had nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists off the bench.
- Freshman Jamir Reed chipped in eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.
- CCSU was 12-of-25 (.480) from the three-point arc. Baker finished 4-of-8.
