Bute Signs Professional Basketball Contract in Spain
Deion Bute has signed a professional basketball contract with Hestia Menorca of the LEB Silver league in Spain
Recently graduated Central Connecticut standout Deion Bute has signed a professional basketball contract with Hestia Menorca of the LEB Silver league in Spain. Bute played in 61 games for the Blue Devils over the 2017-19 seasons after transferring from Tallahassee Community College.
Bute started 60 games across two seasons and averaged 9.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 59.8 percent from the field. The 6-foot-9 center also added 1.3 blocked shots per game. As a senior, he ranked 2nd in the NEC shooting .596 from the field and scored in double-figures 12 times and had four double-doubles. Bute was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 20, 2017, after posting a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) at ECU and 19 points and nine rebounds at St. John's. He scored a career-high 22 points (9-10 fg), including the game-winning dunk against Fairleigh Dickinson as a junior. At Tallahassee, Bute earned Coaches' All-Panhandle Conference Second Team honors as a freshman and was voted to the FCSAA All-Tournament Team.
The LEB Silver is the third division of professional basketball in Spain. Hestia Menorca is a club founded in 2016 and is located in Mahon, Balearic Islands.
