Men's Basketball Falls at Seton Hall on Sunday
The Blue Devils travel to Binghamton on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Junior Mustafa Jones led the Blue Devils with 11 points and freshman Tyson Batiste had 10 points and five rebounds. Senior Tafari Whittingham and sophomore Austin Nehls each had nine points, while senior Tidell Pierre added eight points.
Central shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61) for the game and finished with 11 assists against just nine turnovers.
After an early basket by Batiste tied the game, 2-2, Seton Hall held the Blue Devils without a field goal over an 11:06 span to take control of the game. The Pirates scored 15 straight at one point to go ahead 17-2.
Seton Hall would push the lead out to 26-4 before a layup by Whittingham with 8:10 left in the half snapped the field goal drought.
The Blue Devils were able to regroup before the break and Nehls had five straight points for CCSU at the end of the half. A basket by Seton Hall just before the halftime buzzer made it 44-25 at the break.
Jones went on a personal 9-2 run early in the second half to help CCSU trim the deficit. His three-point play with 13:55 to play made it 55-41.
After a layup by sophomore Eric Bowles made it 57-43, Seton Hall came back with seven straight points capped by a three-pointer by Myles Powell. The Blue Devils got no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.
Seton Hall shot 50.9 percent (29-of-57) for the game. Angel Delgado finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds, while Khadeen Carrington had a game-high 18 points.
Central is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Binghamton.
