Football Alumna Tyshaun James Signs With Montreal Alouettes
All-time leader in TD catches at CCSU joins the CFL
Former Central Connecticut football player Tyshaun James signed a contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
"We look forward to seeing Tyshaun in camp," said Alouettes Senior Director, Football Operations and Player Personnel, Éric Deslauriers. "He is a smooth young wide receiver prospect who should stretch the field for us. He has great hands and we believe that he can help us win some games."
"CCSU was a great stepping stone for me to shocacse my abilities on the field," said James. "We played alot of good schools, both FBS and FCS. I loved my time there, winning two NEC titles, and the coaching staff was great, from Coach Erickson to our academic advisors, and Molly (McCarthy) and Amy (Strickland.) Central is forver a family for me."
James placed in 43 games for the Blue Devils from 2017 through 2021, finishing with 114 career catches and 1,881 receiving yards. His 18 career receiving touchdowns is the most in program history. James is a two-time All-NEC honoree, earning the honor in 2019 and 2021. He finished the 2019 NEC Championship campaign with 1,145 all-purpose yards and an NEC leading 14 touchdowns (nine receiving, five rushing). All told, James recorded 2,214 all-purpose yards during his time in New Britain. James earned All-New England Honors following his senior campaign.
The Alouettes play in the CFL East Division and finished the 2002 season at 9-9 and advanced to the East final of the Grey Cup playoffs. Montreal has made 18 Grey Cup apperaances, with seven wins, the last in 2010. The Alouettes the 2023 campaign on June 2nd with a home game versus Hamilton.

I am glad and thankful that Monreal has seen the good that I can bring onto the team. I'm ready to learn as much as I can and continue to get better as a player."
James joins his CCSU teammate Jake Dolegala in the CFL. Dolegala is in his second season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The two teams are scheduled to play in Montreal August 11th.
