Boatwright, Umunakwe Named Preseason All-NEC By The Bluebloods
Defensive duo, both All-NEC Second Team honorees last season, were recognized by the FCS focused college football podcast and website.
Tyler Boatwright and Chizi Umunakwe were named to the All-NEC Preseason Team by The Bluebloods, and FCS focused college football podcast.
Boatwright, a 2021 All-NEC Second Team selection at corner, finished his sophomore campaign with 26.0 tackles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and eight pass breakups. He recorded a season-best 8.0 tackles, along with two PBU and a forced fumble in the LIU game.
An All-NEC Second Team linebacker in 2021, Umunakwe played in 11 games and recorded 50 tackles as a junior. He recorded eight tackles in games against Columbia and Sacred Heart. He finished the 2021 campaign with 3.0 sacks and 6.0 TFL.
The Blue Devils report for preseason camp August 4th and open the 2022 campaign at UConn on September 3rd. The Northeast Conference will announce the coaches selected preseason team on ESPN3 and NEC Front Row on August 3rd.
