Zoppi Recognized as NEC Special Teams Player of the Week
Junior Joe Zoppi was named the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced by the league on Monday. Zoppi kicked the game-winning field goal in CCSU's season-finale against Saint Francis U on Saturday.
Zoppi booted the Blue Devils to the win on Saturday when he kicked the game-winning 31 yard field goal as time expired for a 24-21 win. The kick was his third field goal of the game and he added a PAT for a season-best 10-point game. He opened the game's scoring when he booted a 21-yard field goal, along with a 39-yard kick to get CCSU within 14-13 late in the third quarter.
Zoppi finished the season making six straight field goals. He had a season-long kick of 42 yards and was 10-of-16 on field goals. He was also 26-of-27 on PAT tries. Zoppi finished his career with 99 career points on 13 field goals and 60 PATs.
