CCSU Football Announces Newcomers on Signing Day
Head Coach Ryan McCarthy and the Blue Devils announced their incoming class
Central Connecticut announced the addition of three newcomers on Football Signing Day on Wednesday. CCSU is coming off an 11-2 season in which it was ranked 17th nationally and won its second Northeast Conference title in three seasons to advance to the FCS Playoffs.
"We are very excited about the class we have signed," McCarthy said on Wednesday. "Our coaches worked diligently to recruit this group of talented student-athletes who we believe have the ability to have a positive, and in some cases immediate, impact on the field. We welcome these players and families into our program, and we are excited to begin working with them."
A look at the three Blue Devils signees and what they will bring to the roster:
Jake Skinner | TE | 6-4, 210 | Fredonia HS
Jake comes to New Britain from Fredonia High School in Western New York. He is a dual threat Tight End that can block the line of scrimmage and stretch the field in the passing game. In addition, he broke his school's record for career tackles. Jake matches the criteria of a recruit that could play on either side of the football. We believe Jake is an excellent addition to the Tight End room.
C.J. Duell | QB | 6-1, 185 | St. John Vianney HS
C.J. is a product of St. John Vianney High School in Central New Jersey. He excelled this summer at our 1 Day prospect camp. C.J. is very intelligent, a fierce competitor and has excellent arm talent. C.J. has the ability to stress opposing defenses with both his arm and his feet. We are very excited to have C.J. join the Blue Devil family.
Johnathan Cabral-Martin | DB | 5-10, 190 | East Coast Prep HS
Jonathan is young man we have recruited for the past two years at both Lynbrook High School in New York and East Coast Prep. He is a savvy football player that is always around the football. Jon's versatility really stood out to our staff. He possesses the ability to both tackle and cover in space. We are elated to have him join the program in the spring semester.
