Jacob Dolegala Signs as Free Agent With Cincinnati Bengals
Quarterback holds the school record for passing yardage and touchdowns
Central Connecticut record-breaking quarterback Jacob Dolegala signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, immediately after the end of the 2019 NFL Draft. The former Blue Devilssignal-caller, who holds the school-record for passing yardage and touchdowns, was a First Team All-Conference pick for the Blue Devils following his senior season.
"This is a great day for Jake and also for our program," head coach Ryan McCarthy said on Saturday. "Jake deserves this. He is a hard worker, dedicated student of the game and with his size and arm strength he will have the chance to make an NFL roster this season. He is a testament to hard work and we look forward to following his career. For our program this is a huge step and shows everyone that if you put in the time and effort, people will notice."
Dolegala finished a stellar career with the Blue Devils as the school's all-time leader in passing yardage and touchdowns, becoming just the fifth quarterback in league history to throw for over 8,000 yards. He threw for 48 career touchdowns. As a senior he completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,221 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing just six interceptions. He also finished fourth on the team in rushing with 274 yards on the ground to go along with six rushing touchdowns and was a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection.
