Dartmouth Tops Football in Final Non-Conference Game
Blue Devils will be on the road at Sacred Heart on ESPN3 next week
The Central Conneticut football team dropped to 2-5 overall on the season after a 34-7 non-conference loss to 5-0 Dartmouth on Saturday. The loss is the first for the Blue Devils at home since the home opener vs. Lehigh after back-to-back home wins vs. Bowie State and Bryant.
Central managed just 225 yards on offense and turned the ball over twice in the loss. Freshman Jacob Dolegala was 14-of-21 for 133 yards and an interception. Redshirt freshman Tavion Pauldo was 7-of-15 and also through an interception in the loss. Sophomore Cameron Nash rushed 10 times for 49 yards.
The Big Green started the scoring in the first quarter on their first offensive play from scrimmage. Dalyn Williams connected with Jon Carrier from 44-yards out to put the visitors on the board with the 7-0 lead.
Dartmouth made it 14-0 with 11:09 to play in the second quarter on the second scoring pass of the game from Williams. This time he hit Cameron Skaff from eight-yards out to complete a quick six-play, 36-yard drive.
Central got on the board just before halftime when junior Carlton Nash recovered a fumble in the end zone for the touchdown, cutting the lead to 14-7. Freshman Chris Tinkham forced the fumble and Nash fell on it in the end zone for the score.
In third third quarter the Big Green pushed the lead to 21-7 on the first rushing touchdown of the game from Ryder Stone. Stone's rush from one-yard out capped a nine-play drive that took went for 56 yards.
Stone rushed for his second score of the day with 13:13 left in the fourth quarter to push the Dartmouth lead to 27-7. The extra-point was no good. The Dartmouth drive took just four-plays and 23 yards after a short punt from the Blue Devils from their own end zone.
The Big Green pushed the lead to 34-7 with exactly six minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Williams threw hit second touchdown of the day to Skaff to cap a drive that
Williams finished the game 23-of-33 for 249 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for a team-high 60 yards. Stone rushed 13 times for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Blue Devils will return to Northeast Conference action next Saturday on the road at Sacred Heart beginning at 1 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN3.com.
