Baseball Falls at Stony Brook in Series Finale on Sunday
Central returns home to host Manhattan on Tuesday, March 10, at 3:00 PM.
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped the series finale at Stony Brook, 5-2, on Sunday at Joe Nathan Field. Seniors Chandler Debrosse and Dave Matthews each had two hits for the Blue Devils, who had a two-run lead before the Seawolves scored five unanswered runs. Central slips to 3-8 on the year, while Stony Brook goes to 4-9.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central scored in the first after Debrosse and junior Jay Devito led off with consecutive singles. With one out, Matthews hit a single to left field to drive in Debrosse and make it 1-0. Central would load the bases with two outs, but SBU would avoid further damage.
- CCSU doubled the lead in the third inning after junior TT Bowens hit a solo homerun to left field.
- Stony Brook loaded the bases with one out in the fourth inning. Brett Paulsen hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run. A two-out error would allow SBU to score two more runs and go ahead, 3-2.
- The Seawolves loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth and would plate one run on a wild pitch to make it 4-2. Stony Brook tacked on an insurance run with a RBI-single by Ellis Schwartz in the sixth.
- Brendan Disonell retired 11 straight CCSU batters before a double by Debrosse in the seventh, but would not allow another runner.

- Mozzicato started for Central and went 4.0 innings. He allowed two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
- Junior Peyton Stephens threw 2.0 innings in relief. He struck out the side in the seventh, and finished with four strikeouts, while walking one and allowing two hits.
- Debrosse and Matthews each had a double and finished with two hits. Debrosse scored one run, while Matthews drove in a run.
- Bowens hit his first homerun of the season.
- Disonell came on with one-out and a runner on second base in the third inning. He tossed 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with four strikeouts for the win.
