Baseball Falls in Series-Opener at Stony Brook, 3-2
The Blue Devils and Seawolves play the second game of the series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Central Connecticut baseball team fell at Stony Brook, 3-2, on Friday in the first game of a three-game series at Joe Nathan Field. The Blue Devils held a one-run lead until the Seawolves scored two runs in the sixth. Senior Chris Kanios had two hits for CCSU, while senior Andrew Braun started and went 6.0 innings for the Blue Devils. Central slips to 2-7 on the season, while Stony Brook is now 3-8.

KEY MOMENTS
- Stony Brook scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first by John Tuccillo to go ahead 1-0.
- Braun would keep SBU at bay over four innings and stranded two runners in both the second and fourth innings.
- Kanios led off the sixth with a single and would score on a one-out double by senior Chandler Debrosse. Junior TT Bowens would single to right-center to score Debrosse and make it 2-1 CCSU.
- The Seawolves took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, bloop single by Stanton Leuthner.
- Kanios would lead off the eighth with a single and advanced to third, but would be stranded following an inning-ending strikeout.

- Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 10-5.
- Central has lost six straight for the first time since March 13-19, 2016.
- Braun was charged with two earned runs in 6.0 innings. He scattered six hits, while walking three and striking out three.
- Junior Matt Shane tossed 2.0 shutout innings in relief, allowing just one hit.
- Kanios finished 2-for-3 with one run scored.
- Debrosse and Bowens each had a hit and an RBI.
