Central hosts Fairleigh Dickinson for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
Mitchell dazzled during his second straight magnificent start. Taking the ball for the finale in Staten Island, the CCSU senior fired a complete-game shutout to complete the Blue Devils' series sweep of the rival Seahawks. The Hollywood, FL, native limited Wagner to only five hits, all of which were singles, and one base on balls over 9.0 scoreless frames. Pitching to an 0.67 WHIP, Mitchell fanned 13 batters and did not allow a base runner to safely reach second base until the eighth inning. He surrendered back-to-back singles to lead off the eighth, but responded by striking out the next two batters before inducing an inning-ending groundout. Wagner loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth when Mitchell closed the door with a shutout-preserving strikeout. The veteran righty has permitted only one earned run in his last 15.1 innings of work.
