Baseball Duo Earn Weekly Northeast Conference Honors
The Blue Devils play Saint Joseph's on Wednesday
Junior Buddy Dewaine and freshman Jack Nolan of the Central Connecticut baseball team were recognized by the Northeast Conference with weekly awards it was announced on Tuesday. Dewaine was named the league's Player of the Week, while Nolan earned Rookie of the Week after helping CCSU to a three-game sweep against St. Bonaventure last week.

Dewaine spent plenty of time on the base paths during CCSU's three-game sweep of A-10 member Saint Bonaventure. The starting third baseman reached safely 10 times in 16 plate appearance, highlighted by a pair of three-hit performances. Dewaine earned his way on base at least twice in each of the three victories. He also scored at least one run in every game. After going hitless in the Blue Devils' first four games, Dewaine went 3-for-5 in Saturday's 4-3 triumph. He recorded three hits again in Sunday's finale, including a solo homer.

Nolan logged at least one hit and one RBI in each of the Blue Devils' three victories over Saint Bonaventure. In all, he reached safely seven times and drove in six runs during the three-game series sweep. The freshman first baseman went 2-for-5 with a RBI and run scored in the series opener, a 9-5 triumph. Nolan reached base three times and recorded two RBI in Game 2, a 4-3, extra-inning victory. He drew a bases-loaded walk in the first frame and added a RBI single in the sixth of the series finale.
