Bio

Ashley Wilson joined the women's basketball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2021-22 season.

"We are excited to have Ashley join the Blue Devil family," said Reaves. "Ashley comes to us with an accomplished background as a student-athlete and in coaching. Her enthusiasm will have a positive impact on our program and help us accomplish our goals."

Wilson came to CCSU after spending the 2020-21 year as the head women's basketball coach at Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, CT. She handled all aspects of running the program, including scheduling, film editing and practice planning. Wilson was also involved in attracting students to the prep school program.

Wilson got her start in the coaching field in China following her overseas professional playing career. She spent a year with Nike Rise Academy as a trainer where she instructed players in sessions ranging from "Fundamental 1" to "Elite". Wilson crafted professional training plans based upon the assessment of individual skill sets. She spent 2016-18 at Five Star Sports  in China and coached male and female athletes from age 5 to college. She was responsible for leading Nike, NBA and CBA event clinics for athletes with various ability levels.

Wilson played at Wayne State University from 2012-16. She helped lead the Warriors to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014 and graduated as the career leader in free throw shooting percentage. Wilson posted career averages of 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals wat Wayne State before embarking on a playing career overseas in Portugal and China.

She studied Public Relations with a minor in business at Wayne State from 2012-16. Wilson also has a background as a individual coach in China where she conducted private training sessions for groups that involved fitness, weight training and jump training.
