Bio

Amanda Powlen joined the Blue Devils as the throws coach in 2021. Powlen was a thrower for Westfield State University, where she also earned degrees in both environment science and regional planning. She is a record holder at WSU in the hammer and weight throw, competed in three NCAA Championships and was All-American in the 20lb throw.

Powlen has made an immediate impact with the CCSU program, coaching Logan Ratcliff to the Northeast Conference Championship in the Javelin in 2023. She also guided him to a school-record throw of 67.13 meters.

After college, Powlen continued training in California and competed in two USA Track and Field National Championships. During this time, she began her coaching career at Corona del Mar High school and coached Cal Coast Track Club team.

After her time in California, Powlen began coaching at Concordia University Chicago while working towards earning a Masters degree in education. While coaching at Concordia University Chicago, Powlen had throwers break three school records and had the first All-American thrower in school history.
