Morabito Earns At-Large NCAA Championship Berth
Graduate student is first Blue Devil to earn an at-large selection to the national championship race.
Brooke Morabito, Central Connecticut State graduate student, has added another line to her resume – NCAA Championship At-Large qualifier. The 2024 Northeast Conference Cross Country Champion was selected to compete at the November 23rd NCAA Championship in Madison, WI.
A New Milford High School alumna, Morabito raced to an eighth-place finish in the NCAA Northeast Regional. She crossed the finish line in eighth place at that race and as the fifth runner from a team that didn't earn a berth to the championship. Based on her performance, and that four Northeast Region Teams were selected, her performance earned her one of the two individual at-large selections.
Morabito is the first Blue Devil in women's cross-country history to earn an at-large selection to the championship, and the second all-time. Ashley Dana won the 2021 NEC individual title and earned an automatic bid to the championship.
A native of New Milford, CT, Morabito won the 2024 NEC Cross Country individual title in a course and conference championship record with a run of 16:39.60. She is also the first Blue Devil to win the New England Championship, doing so in a time of 16:53.18, 20 seconds clear of the runner-up.
The NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship is scheduled for 10:20 am ET on Saturday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, WI. The women's championship race is 6K. The Championship will air on ESPNU and ESPN+.
