Rafter Earns Second NEC Athlete of the Week Honor
Angie Rafter finished 10th out of 168 at the NEICAAA Cross Country Championship.
Sophomore Angie Rafter was named the Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week for women's cross country, it was announced by league office Wednesday.
Rafter garnered a second consecutive weekly award following another race in which she finished as the top NEC finisher. After winning the Ted Owen Invite last time out, the sophomore placed tenth in a field of 168 at the NEICAAA Championship that included harriers from Sacred Heart, Bryant and 21 other New England schools. She navigated the 5K course in Franklin Park, MA in 18:17.8 to lead the Blue Devils to a top-10 finish.
Rafter, who hails from Danielson, CT, now holds three of the top-4 times in the NEC this season.
The Blue Devils will host the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 19 before setting their sights on the NEC Championship at Bryant on Oct. 27.
