Women's Cross Country Takes Second at Ted Owen Saturday
Women's cross country finishes 2nd out of 8 teams.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team took second place out of eight other teams competing at the 16th Annual Ted Owen Invitational Saturday, Sept. 22. Five Blue Devils finished in the top-20 out of a field of 82 runners. The women ran at Stanley Quarter Park across a 5K course at an average time of 18:57.
Sophomores Angie Rafter and Megan Brawner tabbed first and second finishes overall. Rafter finished with a time of 18:05.3 and Brawner 18:32.9.
Following Brawner in eighth place was senior Dawn Hubbell who flew in at 18:56.4. Less than a minute later, rookie Ashley Dana recorded a time of 19:29.9 for CCSU in 17th place. Sophomore Sabrina Chesters finished in 20th place with a time of 19:42.4. Rounding out the Blue Devils was junior Kailyn Accetura who completed the course in 21:17.4.
Both men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Boston, MA on Saturday, Oct. 6, to run at the New England Championships held in Franklin Park.
