Brawner Named NEC Rookie of the Week
CCSU will host the 2017 NEC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Stanley Quarter Park.
Central Connecticut women's cross country breakout freshman Megan Brawner was acclaimed the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week by the league's front office on Tuesday afternoon. Brawner was acknowledged for her high geared showing at the 15th Annual CCSU Mini Meet last Friday at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
Brawner was the Blue Devils' top performer at the 15th Annual CCSU Mini Meet. Helping the Blue Devils to a fifth-place finish out of 21 competing instutitions, the freshman completed the 3K race in 10:38.1. The time, which ranked 14th overall out of 138 entries, was the second-fastest amongst all NEC athletes contesting the event.
With the 2017 Northeast Conference title in their sights, the Blue Devils will prepare this week for one final tune up before competing at noon on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the NEC Championship. Brawner and the rest of the Central women's cross country squad will have the Stanley Quarter Park home course in its favor while in search of the program's first ever NEC title.
