Mendelson is acknowledged for her bright performance at the annual CCSU Mini-Meet.

Mendelson Claims Second NEC Female Athlete of the Week Honor

Junior Brittany Mendelson of the Central Connecticut women's cross country team earned her second Northeast Conference Female Athlete of the Week award this season as announced Tuesday afternoon. In the final meet for the Blue Devils before the NEC Championships, the junior recorded an 11th place finish in a field of 127 runners at the CCSU Mini-Meet.

Mendelson completed the 3K course at Stanley Quarter Park in 10:27.4 to lead all Blue Devils and NEC athletes across the finish line at the 14th annual event.

Two weeks prior, Mendelson was named Athlete of the Week for being top finisher among all NEC performers in the field at the New England Championships after turning in a time of 18:24.5. She placed 19th out of 234 overall, and helped CCSU finish 13th out of 35 teams. 

The CCSU women's cross country runners will travel to Loretto, PA to race in the 2016 NEC Championships at Saint Francis U., scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29th.
