Keckler Named NEC/Molten Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Central Connecticut freshman Olivia Keckler was named Northeast Conference Volleyball/Molten Rookie of the Week it was announced Tuesday by the league office. Keckler was also named a Prime Performer, along with teammate Weronika Poczynek, after helping CCSU to a split of two matches last week.
Keckler averaged 2.0 kills/set and added 1.0 digs/set and 0.6 blocks/set to go with five aces last week. She helped Central win its first match of the season in a five-set triumph at Holy Cross. She had 13 kills, four blocks, three digs and an ace, while hitting .269 in the victory. In a five-set loss at Merrimack, the freshman opposite had seven kills, seven digs, four aces and two blocks.
Poczynek posted a pair of double-doubles in last week's matches. The junior outside hitter averaged 3.0 kills/set and added 2.8 digs/set, 0.4 blocks/set and had five aces. Poczynek had 12 kills and 10 digs in a five-set match at Merrimack. She added four aces and two blocks. In a five-set win at Holy Cross, Poczynek had 18 kills and 18 digs, to go with two blocks and an ace.
CCSU hosts Saint Peter's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
