Volleyball Stopped in Straight Sets at Sacred Heart
CCSU will play its next five matches at home.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell at Stonehill in five sets on Saturday night in Easton, MA. The Blue Devils rallied from a 2-0 deficit before falling to the Skyhawks in the decisive frame. Weronika Poczynek and Larissa Hiemer both had double-doubles for CCSU.
CCSU returns home to host Le Moyne on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sacred Heart opened the first set with three straight points but CCSU would rally to take a lead. Trailing 10-6, Central scored five straight points and took an 11-10 lead after a block by Isabelle Roufs and Weronika Poczynek. SHU would come back with five straight points to take the lead for good in the set enroute to taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Pioneers scored the first four points of the second set and would build an 8-1 lead to start. After a kill by Isabella Bratzke interrupted the SHU start, Sacred Heart would lead throughout. The Blue Devils would get within 18-16 after a kill by Bratzke, but the Pioneers outscored the visitors, 7-2, the rest of the way.
- CCSU scored the first two points of the third set on a kill by Bratzke and an SHU error. A kill by Poczynek would make it 3-2, but that was Central's final lead of the set as the Pioneers would roll off five straight points. The Blue Devils would get within a point on three occasions, but were unable to draw even and the Pioneers closed the match with an 8-1 run.

- The Pioneers have won the past two meetings and lead the all-time series, 26-21.
- Bratzke and Poczynek led CCSU with nine kills apiece. Poczynek added a team-high 13 digs.
- Larissa Hiemer had 16 assists, seven digs and a kill.
- Roufs, Mia Lombardo and Kaylin Hadley each had two blocks.
- Kylee Baranski had two access and 10 digs.
