Volleyball Swept at FDU on Saturday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0, at FDU on Saturday in Northeast Conference action at Hackensack, NJ. Each of the three sets were decided by just two points, but the Blue Devils fell in their first conference contest to not go five sets.
CCSU is back home on Friday against Stonehill at 5:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The first set was close throughout with FDU holding the largest lead at 6-3. The Knights would take a 23-22 lead which led to a CCSU timeout. The Blue Devils would tie the set at 23-23 after a kill by Lauren Milani, but FDU would follow with back-to-back kills to close the set.
- Central would ride a string of three straight points to build a 10-5 lead in the second set after Mia Lombardo and Isabelle Roufs combined for a block. The Knights called timeout and would rattle off four straight points before drawing even at 17-17. A kill by Roufs would tie the set at 24-24, but the Knights responded with consecutive kills to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- FDU would take a 14-10 lead midway through the third set, leading to a CCSU timeout. Central would eventually pull ahead at 19-18 after a kill by Weronika Poczynek. CCSU would have set point at 24-22 following a kill by Milani. The Knights would come back with consecutive points to tie before the Blue Devils again had a chance to take the set after a service error. FDU would respond with three straight points to close out the set and win the match.
NUMBER TO KNOW
5 - Neither team led by more than five points in any set in the match. Central had a 10-5 lead in the second set for the largest advantage of the match.
NOTES
- The Blue Devils have dropped back-to-back matches against FDU since running off 12 straight wins in the series.
- Poczynek had 12 kills to lead the Central attack. She added five digs.
- Milani had 11 kills and seven digs.
- Natalie Novak posted a team-best 19 assists and 14 digs for her third double-double of the season.
- Rachel Picha had 13 digs and a pair of aces.
- Roufs had eight kills and hit .357, while adding six blocks.
