Volleyball Fall to the Sharks on the Road
CCSU volleyball's season series with the LIU is all tied up after the Blue Devils dropped its road match with the Sharks on Friday night. A competitive third set from the Blue Devils kept them in it late but the Sharks ended things in a sweep.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Sharks jumped out to an early 10-3 lead and let the ride for most of the first set. The Blue Devils used a four point swing of their own to get things closer, but LIU ran away with the first after an 8-0 swing. They took the first set by 10.
- Two kills from Nyjha Marcelin helped the Blue Devils start the second with a lead. The Sharks were able to force three attack errors on CCSU after this and used it to spark a six-point swing that gave them back the lead.
- The Sharks ate away the rest of the set, trading two point runs for ones to ultimately pull away. LIU took the second 25-13.
- Isabella Brtazke gave CCSU hope with an early kill for the lead in the third set, and the Blue Devils got their closest to stealing a set in this one. After falling behind, the Blue Devils were able to force three straight attack errors on the Sharks and tied things back up at 10.
- Both teams traded short spurts until the game sat with LIU up 17-16. The Sharks pulled off their second longest run of the day, a seven point swing, to set up game point, but the Blue Devils did not throw in the towel yet. After coming within five, the Sharks took the third and finished the match with a sweep.
NOTES
- Marcelin led CCSU with 8 kills on the day.
- Eisenga contributed her usual with a double-digit dig night. She finished with 12 against the Sharks.
- Eline van Heiningen and Isabelle Roufs each were threats on the defense, as Heiningen posted six block assists and Roufs contributed four.

The Blue Devils will be back on the court tomorrow, making the short trip over to St. Francis Brooklyn to face off against the Terriers. CCSU swept SFBK 3-0 in their previous match up this season.
