Volleyball Drops Match at Sacred Heart
CCSU volleyball was defeated on Friday in its first match against Sacred Heart of the season. The loss moves the Blue Devils to 3-2 against Northeast Conference opponents this season.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead in the first set and did not look back from there. CCSU was unable to get a string of more than two points and dropped the first 25-13.
- The Blue Devils fought hard getting back into the second. Nyjha Marcelin, Emma Henderson and Isabelle Roufs each had a pair of kills on the offensive end while the defense forced six kills from the Pioneers. After tying things up at six, the Pioneers stormed back with a 5-0 run that put them in the driver's seat the rest of the second.
- CCSU was unable to overcome an early lead from SHU, but the young Blue Devils put on an offensive performance. Lauren Milani had three kills and an ace in the third, while Marcelin matched her kill total. The Blue Devils strung together their longest run of the game in the third set.
NOTES
Road to 1,000 Henderson is on her way to tallying both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. She currently sits at 989 kills and 981 digs. She is currently averaging 9.4 kills per match against NEC opponents, meaning next week's home match against Long Island University could be a historical one for the senior.
Chasing Records After today's match, Ashlyn Eisenga's career dig total sits at 1351. Brittany Schumacher is third all-time for CCSU with 1,373 digs, only 22 ahead of Eisenga, a total she has scored in a single match on two seperate occasions this season.
Youth Takeover Freshmen Blue Devils led the team in kills (Marcelin, 8) assists (Tori Boulay, 11) and digs (Boulay, 9) tonight.
Rematch? The Blue Devils will face the Pioneers again this season on their home court, hosting Sacred Heart on October 22.
