KEY MOMENTS IN GAME ONE
- The Hornets have been on a tear through the early goings of this season, collecting five sweeps in their six wins. The Blue Devils did not let them run away with this match, however.
- CCSU was able to jump out to an early lead thanks in large part to the play of freshman outside hitter Isabella Bratzke. The rookie scored a kill and served two straight aces to help CCSU lead 11-10.
- The Hornets snapped off an 8-1 run to regain momentum in the first. The Blue Devils were able to fight back with a 4-point run of their own, but were bested 25-19.
- The Blue Devils forced three straight errors on Delaware St. to take an early 4-0 lead in set two. Both teams traded runs after this, setting up an 18-18 tie late. After an DSU run set up set-point, CCSU battled to within two, but were unable to stop set point from the Hornets.
- CCSU used a 6-1 run late in the third to set up their first set point of the day. DSU answered back, and the teams traded kills before the Hornets ultimately sealed the match.
KEY MOMENTS IN GAME TWO
- After the Red Flash took an early 3-0 lead in the first set, the Blue Devils turned things up and never looked back. They had runs of three straight, four straight and five straight back-to-back-to-back, taking set one handidly at 25-12.
- After having 11 errors in the first set, the Red Flash cleaned things up in the second. CCSU kept things close, but SFU took set two with a three-point win.
- The Blue Devils held a 16-13 lead in the third set, but SFU broke off a 9-0 run that proved insurmountable for CCSU.
- The fourth set belonged to senior Emma Henderson. She scored five kills. Her last kill won CCSU the set, forcing a fifth.
- Neither team would budge in the deciding fifth set. The game sat tied at five different points until CCSU was able to get its offense rolling. Ultimately, an error from SFU won the Blue Devils the set, and match, 15-11.
